Mid-Summer Letter from the Principal

July 24, 2017

Dear Great Falls Families,

Happy mid-summer! We still have some summer fun left! I hope you and your family continue to enjoy the wonders of summer in Maine! Our family took advantage of plenty of camping, lake swimming, and outdoor adventures! We also read a ton of great books and had plenty of time to rest and recharge. It was wonderful, but now it’s time to refocus for the upcoming year.

By mid August, our staff start trickling back to Great Falls to set up their classrooms, plan their early units of study, and prep for the exciting start for your child. In the very near future you will receive a summer letter either by email or mail from your child’s new teacher. This letter will serve as an introduction to parents and a reminder to students about information shared at Step Up Day in June.

Be on the lookout for the school bus routes, which should be posted in the Gorham Times by late August. Until then, it would be greatly appreciated if you would take a moment to complete the Great Falls transportation information by using the Google Form found HERE! Safely transporting 525+ students from Great Falls to their afternoon destination is a top priority. Accurate and timely information from you helps us out tremendously.

Should you wish to communicate with your child’s teacher or any other teaching /administrative staff prior to the official start of school, an email directory can be found on our website at http://greatfalls.gorhamschools.org/. Our school office will open on a full time basis beginning Monday, August 14th. Feel free to also contact Mrs. Perkins, Administrative Assistant, or Mrs. Murray, School Secretary at 222-1050 with any inquiries you may have.

Until we meet again, I hope you will continue to enjoy the beautiful days of summer with your children, family, and friends!

Sincerely,
Becky Fortier
Great Falls Principal
